Creating Discovery Sections in Banner
Departments are responsible for entering and maintaining Discovery Course sections, please use the following as a guide during initial set-up.
A. (SSASECT)
Enrollment = 19
B. (SSAPREQ)
1st Block: CAPP Area for Prerequisites box is checked.
3rd Block: 1DIS code is entered as a Section Area Prerequisite
C. (SSATEXT)
2nd Block:
SSATEXT should consists of a short paragraph –
- Short Course Description (a few sentences)
- First Year Discovery Program Course. Registration restricted to freshmen. Students should enroll in only one Discovery course.
- Optional link to instructor web page.
Example of a SSATEXT block - This course examines the myths of Greece and Rome, with special emphasis being placed on their cultural contexts (both social and literary), interpretation, and influence throughout the art and literature of western civilization. First year Discovery Program course. Registration restricted to freshman. Students should only enroll in one Discovery course.
REMEMBER!!!
No additional course restrictions (i.e. major only) should be set for courses without prior approval.
