Swanlund Endowed Chair: Nigel Goldenfeld
Nigel Goldenfeld is Swanlund Chair, University Scholar and Professor of Physics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge (U.K.) and was a fellow at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of California at Santa Barbara. His research explores how patterns evolve in time. Professor Goldenfeld’s interests in emergent and collective phenomena extend from condensed matter physics to biology. Professor Goldenfeld co-founded NumeriX, a high-performance software for the derivatives marketplace. He has been an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellow, recipient of the Xerox Award for Research, and the A. Nordsieck Award for Excellence in Graduate Teaching. Professor Goldenfeld is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance and a Fellow of the American Physical Society.
