Swanlund Endowed Chair: Leon Dash
Leon Dash is Swanlund Chair and Center for Advanced Study Professor of Journalism. He is a graduate of Howard University and former reporter for the Washington Post. Professor Dash is the author of Rosa Lee: A Mother and Her Family in Urban America, which grew out of the eight-part Washington Post series for which he won the Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Journalism. Professor Dash is credited with the creation of Immersion Journalism. He is currently at work on a University of Illinois film documentary and book about the establishment of student disability services here, and a second book on defining ethnic experiences in the United States.
