Swanlund Endowed Chair: Anand Pillay
Anand Pillay is Swanlund Chair and Professor Emeritus of Mathematics. He received his B.A. from Oxford and M.Sc., Ph.D. from London. Professor Pillay came to Illinois after postdoctoral posts in Paris, Manchester, McGill and Notre Dame. His research is model theory, a branch of mathematical logic. Professor Pillay has published around 150 research papers and several books. He was a speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Zurich and a Humboldt Prize Winner. Currently he is a Marie Curie Chair at the University of Leeds (U.K.). Professor Pillay has been active in the Indian Cultural Society and is a member of the Socialist Forum.
