Gutgsell Endowed Professor: James D. Anderson

James D. Anderson is Gutgsell Professor of History of American Education and Head of the Department of Educational Policy Studies.  He holds appointments in the Department of History and African American Studies and Research Program.  Professor Anderson’s scholarship focuses broadly on the history of American education, with specializations in the histories of African American Education in the South, higher education desegregation, public school desegregation, and African American school achievement in the 20th century.
