Endowed Chairs and Professorships

Aiken Endowed Chairs

The Aiken Chair was established in honor of former Chancellor Michael Aiken's devotion to enhancing the quality of teaching, research, and service across campus. The endowment comes in part from a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Robert C. Campbell.

Swanlund Endowed Chairs

Nineteen University of Illinois scholars have been appointed to endowed chairs made possible by a gift from the late Maybelle Leland Swanlund.  Ms. Swanlund provided an endowment to attract leading figures in the arts and sciences to the University or to recognize outstanding scholars already on faculty.

Gutgsell Endowed Professors

Thirteen University of Illinois faculty members have been appointed as Edward William and Jane Marr Gutgsell endowed Professors.  The endowed professorships were established to promote faculty development and to ensure high achievement.  The professorships are five-year renewable term appointments.

Ikenberry Endowed Chair

The Ikenberry Chair was established in honor of former University of Illinois President, Stanley O. Ikenberry.  The fund, is made in part of a gift from Geraldine B. Cooke along with other sources, honors a distinguished faculty member on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus.

Walgreen Endowed Chairs

The Walgreen Chairs were established by the Walgreen family to honor Charles R. Walgreen, Jr.  Walgreen Chairs are faculty at an elite level.
